Cattle Disease Risk Management Tools

Disease Prevention. Biosecurity. Biological Risk Management. Three different terms with one common goal: Maintaining cattle health and well-being.

Determining the risk of disease entry or spread on a cattle operation should begin with an assessment. Using the Biological Risk Management (BRM) assessment tool, veterinarians can work with their cattle producers to assess a variety of management practices including people and vehicle entry, animal introductions, housing, wildlife/rodent/parasite control, water and feed quality, calving, reproduction, and respiratory disease. The dairy assessment also includes questions about milk quality and mastitis. Once questions are answered online, multiple reports are immediately available.
